‘“THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT DAYS IN YOUR LIFE ARE THE DAY YOU ARE BORN AND THE DAY YOU FIND OUT WHY.” ― MARK TWAIN

Samuel Clemens’ wry humor when writing about the human condition is an inspiration to me to remain flexible and nimble in the course of my professional career- which has not been traditional nor linear. I strongly believe this is the heart of where my strength lies.

LAURA HURST ROOF IS:

Originally from a small town in southern Indiana, USA. Of the many places I have called home, Seattle is my favorite and the tiny but mighty country of Luxembourg, the most recent. The first step began with a background in landscape architecture: environmental resource management and ecosystem restoration. The second step was the creation of LAHURO, to provide creative opportunities using local and responsibly sourced raw materials, simple and modern design, hand crafted or locally sourced. The next steps are a part of the future, yet to be defined and full of potential.

THE MISSION:

LAHURO’s mission is to help build value and potential of the local textiles industry by: 1. Supporting the local wool farmers through fair pricing 2. Valuing the services of small, specialized and local mills as well as collaborating with local artisans on handcrafted goods and 3. Maintaining high standards of both ecological and economic sustainability in practice and materials. LAHURO is an extension of both my drive to explore and my lifelong goal to play a role in making this world a little better than how I found it. I have gained experience in a range of fields on this journey and am still exploring paths to that goal. LAHURO has provides an opportunity for like minded others to join me on this path. It provides a solid platform, based on local community and research, for curiosity and creativity to flourish. I am able, through this platform to support my wider community by thoughtfully utilizing it’s resources and providing needed goods and services …
